  22. programs.  Four PC programs were included in the reviewalong with the Macintosh programs:  Adobe Illustrator 1.9.5, Aldus Freehand  2.0.2, CA-Cricked Draw 1.1.1, and Canvas  2.1. As the authors 
  23. (Mick Heck, Doug and RDenise Green) said: Until recently, no self-respecting artiest used and IBM-compatible PC for creative design - it was either a Macintosh, or the traditional pen, brush, and drawing board ensemble."  But with some postscript illustration PC programs, and Windows this is changing.  I guess so, to put it mildly, since the reviewers rated two of the PC programs (Corel Draw 1.2.1, and Micrografx Designer 3.0.1) significantly higher than any of the Mac programs.  The PC programs mentioned received 8.2 and 7.7 points on a scale of 10, with Adobe Illustrator and Aldus Freehand next in line with 6.9.programs. I have no reason to

  29. doubt the sincerity of the reviews, nor the capabilities of the reviewers.  Indeed, I 
  30. normally have a pretty high regard for 
  31. InfoWorld reviews (although I have long 
  32. felt the magazine was editorially biased 
  33. against Apple and the Macintosh).  On the 
  34. other hand, the PC programs were both (I 
  35. believe) either fairly new or new 
  36. revisions, whereas the Mac programs are 
  37. a bit long in the tooth.  Indeed Adobe 
  38. Illustrator is due for a new upgrade pretty 
  39. soon, as the article mention with a pretty 
  40. long side-bar.  I think I heard that Aldus 
  41. Freehand was coming out with an upgrade 
  42. as well.  At any rate folks, if these reviews 
  43. are anywhere near accurate, Apple, and 
  44. its developers best 
  45. move along.
